The 33-year-old comedian, has been on a history making spree over the years, he is the first Zimbabwean comedian to sell out the 3,500-seater Celebration Centre in December 2024.
King Kandoro’s remarkable journey from local stages to continental prominence includes selling out Reps Theatre in 2019 and the 7 Arts Theatre in 2021 with his Prodigal Son Tour. His appearance at Shoko marks a triumphant homecoming during his birthday month, which is the day after his performance at the Comedy night.
“King Kandoro is an example of that legacy as he grew his comedy career through platforms created by Magamba TV and Shoko and is now one of Zimbabwe’s biggest comedians,” said Festival Director Samm Farai Monro, popularly known as Comrade Fatso.
“He returns triumphantly to Shoko as a headliner and this shows our commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists in Zimbabwe who speak truth to power.”
Joining the headliner is an impressive lineup showcasing Zimbabwe’s finest comedic talent. Kenyan satirist Justine Wanda, creator of “Fake Woke With Justine”, brings continental flair with her sharp social commentary and dark humour that tackles everything from election misinformation to African macroeconomics.
Local favourites include Munyaradzi Mike Chipere, known for his unique blend of Shona, English and street lingo, and multifaceted performer Munya, whose mischievous observations have graced stages across Eswatini, Kenya, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Bulawayo’s Mbongeni Ignatius Ndlovu, winner of the 2023 Bulawayo Arts Award for Outstanding Comedian and 2025 NAMA nominee, will showcase his theatrical comedy style. Award-winning DJ Iroq completes the line up as the night’s entertainment host.
