Call for Applications: The Green Media Accelerator Bootcamp

The Green Media Accelerator is an innovative bootcamp designed to support African media startups in creating cutting-edge climate justice content. This intensive multi-day program will bring together media startups from across Africa to sharpen their skills in environmental reporting, climate justice, investigative journalism, and content creation.

Participants will also receive start-up grants and a distribution plan across multiple digital platforms. The Accelerator is a joint initiative of Magamba Network, Wits Centre for Journalism, and FOJO Media Institute, and will take place in Nairobi from March 26th to March 28th, 2025.

Eligibility:

We invite media startups from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, and Tanzania working on audio-visual content or digital campaigns focused on climate justice. Your project should aim to tell an important climate justice story, amplify an ongoing community-based campaign, promote the need for a just green transition, or lead to progressive policy change for the planet. This opportunity is open to journalists, climate activists, and content creators passionate about standing up, speaking out, and saving the planet!

Application Guidelines:

Applications must be submitted by October 31st, 2024.
Include a brief project concept outlining your project’s goals, objectives, and expected outcomes.
Include a brief bio of your team members, and submit your application in English.
